SUSTAINABILITY

Environmental goals

DANÆG’s focus on sustainability

Some of the biggest focus areas of the time are climate and sustainability. This awareness is spreading to global food and consumption trends, while also playing an important part in the UN 17 world goals.

DANÆG, as part of the DLG Group, is also highly engaged in the reduction of C02 emission of own direct production emissions and indirect emissions caused by purchased energy. The company is also concentrating on the sustainable improvements of decent work and economic growth, and responsible consumption and production.

DANÆG and the UN Goals

Out of the wide range of social, economic, sustainable, and institutional challenges, DANÆG’s shareholders and group management group have jointly identified two of the UN’s global goals, which form the basis of our sustainable strategy and action plan, and which are a natural extension of our business today. These are world goal #8 and world goal #12.

The focus of World Goal #8 is to ”promote sustainable, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”. At DANÆG, we focus on the following sub-goals:

- Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation,      entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services. (8.3)
- Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value. (8.5)
- Substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training (8.6)
- Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment (8.8)

World Goal #12 focuses on reducing our footprint on nature as soon as possible by changing the way we produce and consume our goods and resources. At DANÆG, we concentrate on following sub-goals:

- Achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources (12.2)
- Halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses (12.3)
- Achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment (12.4)
- Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse (12.5)
- Encourage companies to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle (12.6)
- Ensure that consumers have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyle in harmony with nature. (12.8)
